Thordon XL is specified
in a variety of industrial and marine
applications and offers a good balance
between abrasive resistance and low co-efficient
of friction. XL is usually lubricated
with water, grease or oil. |
 |
Thordon SXL has superior dry running
capability, a lower coefficient of friction
and similar abrasion resistance compared
to XL. SXL is the most unique grade of
Thordon and is used in more highly loaded
applications where there is a risk of
adhesive wear. Thordon TRAXL (thin wall,
bronze backed, high pressure bearings)
and highly loaded marine rudder bearings
are several ideal applications for Thordon
SXL. The dry running capability of SXL
also makes it ideal for use in vertical
pump. SXL has been used successfully in
vertical pumps where dry running periods
of well over a minute are experienced.

Thordon COMPAC is a low friction grade
of Thordon that is used in a range of
"open" water lubricated propeller
shaft bearing systems. The COMPAC bearing
system is registry approved for 2:1 L/D
rations. COMPAC's design properties are
effectively the same as SXL and the SXL
design graphs and charts are used for
COMPAC.

Thordon Composite is a two component
marine and pump bearing formulated specifically
for use in very abrasive environments.
The actual bearing material is a much
softer material than XL
